I found her after her nap, like this. She had been playing in here for almost half and hour. I was busy so I let her play. She is showing me her tummy! I guess she is ready for spring too!

A spring like day!
The Zoo!
I heard a long time ago that the Zoo has free day the last Wednesday of each winter month, but could never find any info on it and didn't want to drive all the way there and be wrong. Then last month my good friend Karen assured me it was true! So today, with snow and rain, we went to the Zoo! My little sister Cathryn and Tony and her baby Avriella, and my Mom came too! We just bundled up and had a great time!

Another word on books!
I have read quite a few good books lately, as you have seen in previous posts. But I wanted to say a little of my opinion about books in general. Other than the scriptures of course, and books published by the church, I think we need to be careful with how highly we depend on books written by "man". Below is another book that I love and highly recommend for parents. But as I read this book, I was reminded that we need to keep our Father in Heaven involved with everything we are learning from them. I know I have pretty good kids. (At least that is what people tell me) But as I read this book on teaching children, I could see all the little things that I do on a daily basis, that could be hindering my progress on teaching my kids to be independent, trustworthy, and responsible people when they grow up. I started to get depressed about the things I do wrong! Then I remembered that I could use my Heavenly Father! As I prayed I felt comfort in knowing that I didn't have to be perfect now! And I felt better, knowing that I haven't ruined their lives! I know He will be there for them, to cover my mistakes. And I know that I can, on a daily basis, pray and work toward being a better Mom!
I'm sure it has to do with how I grew up, but I am the kind of person that wants control! It has been very hard for me to relax, and let my kids make their own choices, even if they're wrong, and let them learn from them! I firmly believe, (and it says this in the book below) that even very young kids (like Jenna's age) are very smart and capable of learning from their mistakes! I will continue to pray for the help in letting them do this!
So, my point is, I love to learn from books! And I think the Spirit can tell us which ones are good! But we need to keep our Heavenly Father involved in everything we do. Including what we read or watch on t.v. I also just read a book on Immunizations. And whatever choice I make about them, I will definitely pray to see if it's the right one!

The book
For those who are interested, I just bought the book from my last post for $4.72. I ordered it on Amazon. It is used, but in good condition. I bought it for .73 cents with 3.99 for shipping and handling. I think that's pretty cool. Now I can always have it for a reference whenever my kids are sick, or I can let people borrow it! They had lots more for under a dollar!

What you should know about doctors
I know I recently made a comment on Facebook about this, but it has not left my mind. I decided it is important enough to be put on my blog.
My sister Cynthia let me borrow this book. It was written quite a while ago, but has not lost any value in what it teaches. Dr. Mendelsohn, a pediatrician for many years, tells what everyone should know about doctors. He tells you how amazing the human body is in healing itself and how doctors usually just inhibit it from doing its job. He tells you in detail the many situations you will come across as your child grows up, and lets you know when to go to a doctor and when to just stay home and wait it out.
The biggest thing about waiting it out, is that your child's body builds a better immunity to whatever illness they have, than if they were to be put on medicine that kills both good and bad germs in the body.
He also tells how doctors are not taught about nutrition and don't know how to help you will nutrition, only with medicine. I learned this first hand when Jenna was anemic. I asked my doctor (who I love) what foods she should eat to get more iron. He said he didn't know!
The other huge thing I learned it to not be afraid of a fever. When your child has a fever, it means the body is doing the right thing to get rid of whatever is going on inside. He also explained that the body has a built in thing that won't let the fever get above 106 degrees, unless it's heat stroke, or something like it. And there is no fear of brain damage unless the fever is going up extremely fast. Just a high fever alone will not hurt the brain. Medicine for fevers can be used if your child is extremely uncomfortable, but for the most part, you should let the body heal itself!
There are so many other things I learned from this book and I wish I could tell you them all. So if you are interested in any of this, please go find this book to read! It may be at your local library!

Getting so big!
Jenna is getting so big! I can't believe she is already 18 months. I LOVE this stage! She is learning so much everyday. Here are a few of the words she says. Poop, elk, daddy, mommy, diaper, shoes. Those are just a few. She actually will try to say anything we ask her to. So fun!
Sunday was her first official go to nursery alone day. And she did awesome! I am so glad! I love her teachers and know she is in good hands with them! I look forward to Sunday's even more now!
Here she is showing me her picture she colored in nursery.
